Ethics of Tradelines

When confronted with an opportunity that seems too good to be true, it is easy to have doubts and get to searching the internet to find the “catch.” Authorized user tradelines are one of these such instances.

Purchasing authorized tradelines allows a person to add length to his or her credit history as well as available credit, so adding tradelines can boost a credit score quickly. Is the practice legal? Yes. Is it ethical? We think so. Here’s why:

Piggybacking Happens All The Time

Adding seasoned authorized tradelines to your credit report is also called piggybacking because you are essentially piggybacking on another person’s great credit to improve your own. This practice happens all the time in ways that people don’t question whether it is ethical.

For example, some parents take out student loans in their child’s name and pay it back perfectly, so when the student completes college, they are debt free AND have a perfect credit score to help them start the next chapter in their life. Do you think it is unethical for parents to build good credit in their child’s name? You probably don’t because we always want what is best for our kids. It is the same principal with tradelines, except if you don’t have that parent with the opportunity to build credit for you, you can take matters into your own hands and add tradelines to your credit reports.

Another even more common example is marriage and piggybacking from your spouse. When you get married you can have your spouse easily add you as an authorized user on their accounts to have the same results (provided they have stellar credit) as purchasing tradelines and it is entirely ethical to do so, even though you didn’t work for that credit at all.

What are the Ethics of Tradelines?

What it comes down to is this, is it ethical to purchase tradelines and boost your credit score? We believe it is. There are many ways to boost a credit score through the help of others, and buying and selling tradelines is just another service that opens doors for those people who don’t have the same opportunities handed to them through birth, status in society, or other opportunities such as the examples listed above.
